Nelson Recreation Center
A place where the Fort Lewis community can relax, unwind, and enjoy themselves. Our facility offers a Pool Room (with 6 Olhausen pro 8 tables), Music Rooms, Snack Bar, Movie Room, Game Room (with Networked Computer Games and Playstation Games), Ballroom and a Picnic Pavillion. Whether playing a game of pool, watching a movie in a state of the art home theater, or taking a class, your recreation needs are priority.

Play music in the privacy of our music rooms. Sound proof music modules are available to practice instruments such as Peavy Predator 6 strings, Stratocaster electric guitars, Peavy electric basses, electric drums, acoustic guitars, drums and pianos.

Over a hundred titles are available on DVD to watch in the movie room. As new movies are released, the list grows bigger and bigger. The Snack Bar provides a variety of drinks and snacks including candy, hot dogs, and nachos.

The ball room is available for unit parties, ceremonies, and other functions. It is also where plays, soldier shows, and other events take place. A picnic pavilion is located in the back of the building complete with tables, volleyball court and playground. It is available for unit parties, group picnics, and other functions.

Fort Lewis Theatre
After a few years of intermission, (due to the Chinook Theatre building being torn down) live theatre is back on Fort Lewis. Starting in December of '06 with Scrooge, live community theatre shows are being performed at the Nelson Recreation Center. The Musical comedy "Don't Hug Me" is now in production, and there are plans in the works for even more shows in the future.
